Grace Cabot and her sisters are put in a horrible position, and she knows that she will need to marry before all of England learns that their mother is mad. Their mother suffered an accident a couple of years previous, and her mind has deteriorated, and it is growing steadily worse. Now she has decided that she needs to take matters in her own hands. So she plans on seducing a scoundrel, that would make an amiable husband. But her plan goes awry, when she seduces his older brother, the Earl of Merryton. Now they are forced to wed, and Grace realizes how wrong she was, and she starts to realize the consequences of the scandal, married to a man who is proper and firm in his orderly life. At first she doesn’t know what to make of her husband, who is aloof and withdrawn, and is obsessed with the number eight, and everything in their estate, has to run with perfect order. And there is nothing to do, Grace is used to do the frivolities of London and the entertainments, not being left alone and missing her family more than ever. But Grace is determined to find the truth behind Geoffrey, but will she stand by him when she learns his secrets…
Geoffrey, the Earl of Merryton, grew up with hard childhood. He was painfully shy and reserved, and his father was cruel and harsh on his expectations. Then when he evolved into a young man, he started to suffer from images that aren’t normal, images that haunt him, and only counting with his numbers helps maintain his control. He travels to Bath often, hoping that he can find something to help heal what is wrong with him. But when he finds himself married to Grace, his control is slipping more than ever, and he wonders if he can keep the ‘beast’ contained, for his lovely wife who deserves an honorable husband and got Geoffrey instead. What I loved about Geoffrey, was how human he came off to appear…not perfectly fake. He had real challenges, he has many faults, but we see him change and you see how love changes him slowly…into a man who is strong and determined to be better.
Grace, is used to a busy life, and a chaotic one at that. She finds herself facing consequences of a scandal. Grace is the second in her family, and always felt she was never good enough for her family…it was always Honor who was great at everything, and the only thing Grace can do is make conversation and small talk. Grace finds herself living in a cold household with a cold husband and she is determined to know him and see what is beneath that aloof exterior. Grace is bold and is willing to take matters in her own hands…which creates problems and stress for her husband and their staff who are used to order and NOT chaos. Grace bothered me at times, she seemed not to care about consequences of her actions very non chalantly, and that bugged me, but I liked her character other than that. She is lively and energetic, and is protective of animals and takes in strays all the time. I love her caring and gentle nature….its needed to aid in her husbands problems.
The Devil Takes A Bride is a riveting tale of how healing love can be. I was not sure how I would handle this story or how much I would enjoy it…but I liked it way more than The Trouble With Honor…maybe because Grace seemed more engaging than Honor. I liked Grace way more than Honor. She takes crazy risks that results in horrid scandal, but unlike Honor, she feels the repercussions more, and admits that she was wrong. This story was much more emotional as well and really tugged at my heartstrings at times. I don’t want to reveal too much about the problems that Geoffrey is suffering from, but its something that would be quite scandalous back in the day. So you see how real his trauma is, and how it’s affecting him emotionally and mentally. Its straining him, and soon you see how close he is to breaking…and that just about broke my heart…seeing how much he needed to be accepted and loved for who he is. He has never known love or a gentle hand since he was a boy with his governess. What was even better…was seeing how Grace fully accepts him, knowing everything and how willing she is to be open to him and love him unconditionally. This is a story that is one of the best of Julia London….provacative, riveting in emotion, and strong in plot and building of characters.
I have to say I love poses like the one we have here…I adore red covers,,,a very bold and sensual color, and it works great with this one.
The Devil Takes A Bride is a truly sensational tale of the power of love….how it can heal and give one strength and provoke sensation. A Sensual tale that will sweep you away. A SPLENDID TALE!!
Melissa McGuire, is a new producer and came to San Gabriel to be with her grandmother. Her grandmother is always trying to find ways to get her married and hitched, and Melissa is at the end of her rope. When her grandmother asks her to come to an event but doesn’t tell her what it is, Melissa comes. When she arrives she is shocked to discover the amount of women, and that it is an auction of hot and sexy firemen. She is appalled and she can’t believe her grandmother would have her here…its embarrassing…and what woman would do such a thing….apparently all of the city of San Grabriel. But when her grandmother bids on the hottest of the firefighters, Ryan, she can hardly believe her eyes. But at the time of the date, her grandmother fakes being sick and Melissa is forced to go in her stead…but its not Ryan that shows on the door…its the captain, Brody. Brody is the Fire Fighter captain, and has worked hard to get to that position. When his best friend Ryan, begs him to take over the date with the elderly lady, Brody reluctantly agrees. But he is pleased to discover that his date will be the gorgeous granddaughter. Sparks fly, tensions rise….and they share one whopper of a kiss that seals their fate….but certain disasters occur that could keep them apart…will their love be enough to withstand the coming tide?
Brody, isn’t trusting of women, he is divorced from a woman who was flighty and not committed to the relationship. But he loved her and care for her and she didn’t. Brody is determined to focus on his job and working on his house. What he doesn’t expect is to fall for a sexy news woman, which is the last thing he needs. But Brody finds her breathtaking, witty, fiery in her standards, and independent. Brody is a hero to adore, I love the way he is with his men, a commander and a leader, sexy as sin, plus he is good with his hands. He played the perfect role for the story.
Melissa hasn’t had time for relationships, and quite frankly after being betrayed by her ex, she decided to focus on her career and her grandmother and forget about men and the problems the come with them. Melissa is driven, independent, protective of her grandmother, but has lost her “zest” At first she seemed to be a bit of a door mat at times…very passive and not a fighter at all, especially when her crazy “friend” (if we could even call what they have true friendship) take over on everything. But we do see her fight back eventually, it just takes longer that you would think, but when you find out how she got burned in her previous job, it makes her seem more human at times, and we see a side of human nature that is true but we might not like to see. But what I loved most was seeing her true form come back and fight for what she really wants. By the end her character seemed to explode for me…and I loved the way the author worked that in.
The Fireman Who Loved Me is the first book that I have read from this author. With her new series coming out next month, I just knew I needed to try this series out…and quite frankly I was long overdue reading this book, because hot and sexy single firemen??? Oh hot mama…count me in. After reading The Fireman Who Loved Me is the first full length novel of the series, and what drew me in was the first few pages…it is rare for me to get so fully involved in a story within the first pages…but Jennifer Bernard succeeded and I was bursting into giggles on my break at work…I tell you, the stares made everyone think I was a nut case…but I don’t care, it was freaking hilarious. This is probably the moment I fell for the heroine, because she seems very self-assured and confident and so embarrassed to be at a event that showcases men’s bodies (no matter how hot they are), and tries to hide under the table with her grandmother sitting proudly next to her. The grandmohter…now she was hilarious and I wouldn’t be surprised if she would have been a “flower child” back in the day, she is vibrant and wild and so funny to watch her interactions. But what was sweet about this grandmother, is that she is dying from cancer, and she wants her granddaughter happy in love and married before she goes, and she will resort to any means to make that dream come true. Now the one person I didn’t like was the friend, Ella. She is one piece of work, selfish in every way. But there is a little sub plot with a man who is her perfect match in every way…literally. What was also fun was the commaderie of the firemen. I loved them all, and I can hardly wait to read their stories…especially Ryan’s. What made this story quite wonderful was the sweet love story that develops, and the crazy mishaps that happen….but overall this is a blazing hot romance to sizzle your toes.
I really love the cover..its flirty and playful, and gives off the tone “sweet romance” and I just love those abs on our Fireman….whew he is sexy HOT right?
The Fireman Who Loved Me is a sexy read to burn you if you’re not careful. It’s a story of fighting for who you love, of crazy circumstances that bring two people together, how opposites really Do attract…and a poignant love story to make you scream for more. DELICIOUSLY ROMANTIC!!
Dawn, is the mother of two twins girls, and when she left her ex husband and divorced him, he was able to get her kids from her and she only gets to see them once a week, and only if she gives up a large amount of funds every week. So she works three jobs trying to pay off her ex’s sister, and trying to find a way through the system to get her kids lawfully back. But one day while spying on her kids at school, she runs into Cade. Cade is a man she had two incredible nights of sex with, and even though it was over a year ago, she still remembers it. But her daughters are her top priority and she vowed she would never get involved with another biker again. But her ex Jimmy, is out for revenge, and Cade is determined to protect Dawn…no matter the cost even if it means giving up his brothers, his club…his family.
Cade went from having nothing to everything from the moment he joined the Sinners. The Sinners….his brothers are everything to Cade. Cade is man that loves his women, he refuses to stick with one however, he loves the variety and can’t get enough of them…until Dawn. Dawn makes him want more than just a one night stand. And it still bothers him that she left him not the other way around. Cade is a hero that is sex on wheels…fiery hot and passionate and loves everything sex, dangerous and has a bit of a temper when riled, but is huge on defending women and children. He is a charmer and and a rogue of the highest order…but he also is loyal and dedicated to those he calls family.
Dawn came from the streets and had nothing, until she met Jimmy who brought her to his club and made her his “old lady”, but after seven years of abuse, and the moment she realized her daughters were in danger of his fists and rages, she left him. But that cost her the only two people who she has ever loved…her twin girls. She was framed in the court, and had her girls taken away from her, and now is working herself to death, trying to see them every week and get the case re looked at. She will fight with her dying breath to reclaim her daughters, and to clear her name. She wants to fight and get back what was taken from her. Dawn at first I felt a kinship toward her, the author does a great job in portraying her character and emotions real well, and you see that even though she wants to fight, she doesn’t know how she can beat a man who has more money and connections than she ever will. But we a change in her from the moment Cade enters her life…her fighting spirit blossoms and returns to her tenfold…and she starts to embrace who she really is.
Beyond The Cut I wanted to really love, and after having a great time with the previous book “Rough Justice” I was very excited for this one. It seems like I have been waiting for it forever. However I hate to say it but I just “liked it” and didn’t “Love it” like I wanted to. I have read many of Sarah Castille’s books and so I know that this isn’t her way…but this story felt flat to me. Its more along the lines of Erotica than an actual romance novel. Now I don’t mind the sex scenes, but it felt like it was way more sex than plot or development of a relationship. There is a plot, we have the conflict of Jimmy and boy he is one crazy villain. So having that element of danger and suspense is what had me keep going with this one. The writing and style are very Sarah Castille and it was fairly easy to get into the story. My issue of the book was the over done sex. In my mind it was all lust and no love. Most of the book seemed to be just sex scenes and it got annoying after the first little bit, I wanted to see more emotion from the characters…you see emotion just not what I like or even expect from Castille. Pretty much all they do together is have sex…I just didn’t see how they could go from having sex all the time to loving each other. It wasn’t a transition I could see happening. I will say it was fun seeing the club members again, and I am looking forward to “Sinner’s Steel”.
I love it and I don’t. I really like the tats on this…very unique. And i love the blue themed colors, but the guy here has some nice muscles…but looks too “skin and bones” for me…not enough flesh on him. It could be me I suppose…what do you guys think?
Beyond The Cut was a story that is about fighting for those you love, redemption and coming to terms with your identity. Fiercely passionate and fiery hot!! Sizzles and Burns.
I wanted to try to get a review in real quick before I head off to work. So this will be a bit shorter than normal. I have of late been on the hunt for some good vampire romances lately, its been the type of trope I have been in the mood for. And when I saw a review for the most recent book in this series, I realized I hadn’t read this one yet…and that I needed to get a head start on it. So I grabbed it on B&N and started reading…and wowzers I was very impressed with the story. Now it’s not a J.R. Ward or Kresley Cole type romance…its fun and silly at times, romantic and sweet, dangerous and suspenseful and packed with a mystery that kept me guessing. The heat in the book I would consider “Warm” just because it’s not the primary focus of the story (which is refreshing)…I loved seeing more than just sex in a vampire romance…that there is substance and realism to the relationship. Or maybe just lately the paranormals I have been reading there is way more sex than story and it has just been too much since I like a good story and then great sex to make the story fabulous. What i found most endearing about this story was the charm and plot twists, at times it was predictable but others it blew me away and I kept thinking “I totally didn’t see that coming” and it surprsied me in moments that I was overwhelmed but in a positive way. I can hardly wait to get my hands on the second book…bring it on Alexandra Ivy!!
Honor and her sisters are in dire circumstances. Her nemesis, is going to marry her brother, Augustine, and she has made threats toward Honor, her mother and her sisters. Their mother is suffering from memory loss, and with their step father sick and soon to die, they know that their lives are about to change, and that they must take action. So Honor comes up with a plan, she will convince George Easton, a scoundrel, to try to seduce her brothers fiancée. George Easton, is a third son, and despite his parentage, he is poor, and has devoted all of his funds toward a shipping endeavor, but if he loses that ship, he will lose everything, except what he makes at the gaming tables. Which is where he first meets Honor Cabot. Honor is unlike any other woman he has ever known, she is daring and beautiful and knows just how to get him to cooperate. He realizes that life will never be easy with her at the helm, but he also knows he can’t get her out of his mind. But George has nothing to give Honor, except his name and a few hundred pounds, will Honor be able to give up her life of parties and gowns and financial security to be with the man she loves..
George Easton, knows his place in society and it’s toward the bottom. He doesn’t have high standing, considering the fact that he has small funds, one town house, and supports himself at the gaming tables. George Easton is a bastard, and as such is only considered good for a few things…and that isn’t a place in high society. George Easton is a character I didn’t understand that much. I really liked him, and at first he seems very practical and determined, but he goes along with Honor’s illogical ploys, and it just didn’t fit with him…but I figure men act silly when a beautiful woman is involved and tend not to act like their logical selves. But what I did like about George was his drive to succeed, even when he makes reckless actions, his character is written in such a way that you just can’t help but like him.
Honor is in a bad situation, and even though she is the least practical person, she is determined to do what it takes to protect her family from a woman that would kick them to Europe or the America’s…just to get them out-of-the-way. You see honor’s love and drive to protect those she loves…even in the most ridiculous ways that she goes about it. But even though she could seem very immature at times, and silly, I felt respect for her character. In the story we are put in her mind more, and we what drives her, and she does have good intentions, and despite everything I loved that about her. The way she loves her family and would do anything for them except get married. We see how she likes to do things the hard way…but a very entertaining way though.
Trouble With Honor is the first book…and what a fun romance this was. I had read mixed reviews and ratings about this one, but I like Julia London, and it was a cheap audio book, so I thought it would be good to give it a chance…and I did. At first I will admit the story seemed to drag a bit, but one aspect I have noticed about Julia London’s book you have to give them some time before you get into it and boy am I glad that I stuck with this one, because I adored this story and the narrator is just fabumous…I have listened to other books she has narrated and she is very talented is accents and in portraying the characterizations. There is one thing I just loved about this book…was how George and Honor clicked together. They fit perfectly especially in moments that they don’t realize it. One of my favorite aspects of this story was the way the romance develops because it was different. This pair first meets at the gaming tables, and there is some fiery sparks, but somehow those sparks don’t die despite their difference in positions. What was great about this pair, was how they work hand in hand in such a harmonious way, and especially the first half of the story they don’t see how well they do together. I love that it creeps up on them, and before they realize it…they fall hard for each other. What really got to me was the last part of the story (don’t worry I won’t reveal anything) but it got me emotionally involved, and I so wanted these two to find a way to be together…because they deserved it and they need each other. And they do fight for each other, and even if you have reservations about the heroine…by the end of the book your view changes drastically…it did for me anyway, I love how she fights for love and for what she really wants, and not bow to society’s dictates. This is a romance that slowly won my heart over, in a very dramatic way of course…but nonetheless it happened and I am so thrilled to have discovered this book and I can’t wait to listen to Grace’s story, especially when we get a little tease about her at the end.
There are two covers for this book, the newer one matches the series so I put that one up, because I like the couple poses…and I love this one. I love her dress, it’s so pretty and elegant, and I love the pose here, with is hand on her neck—*shivers down the spine* how I love that.
The Trouble With Honor is a story that will surprise, shock and delight you from beginning to end. With its unique characters, delectable plot, sensational romance, a fun and entertaining story that will captivate you!! A LIVELY REGENCY ROMANCE!!
Lady Phoebe, has known for most of her life, that she was losing her vision, and she knows that soon she won’t be able to see anything at all…not even the light. Phoebe is a woman of strength, and is determined to not let her very over protective brother, smother her in safety, she wants to live and experience life even if she is blind, she knows that there is much she can do. Her bodyguard, James Trevillion, is a prime example of the over protectiveness, but they have a friendship or sorts, and she does trust James. But when she is almost kidnapped, she knows her desire to explore and gain freedom, is about to be gone…because James and her brother are about to get even worse than before. But it soon becomes apparent, as she convinces to let James take her about town, that someone wants her, and badly, When there is a attempt to kidnap her, at her own home, James rescues her and takes her away from her family and London, back to his own roots, but there James will have to face his past, and a passion erupts between James and Phoebe, and even though James has nothing to offer Phoebe except heartache…he would give anything to have her in his life…
James, has been on the run from his past for years. After serving in the military, he came back to London, and lost his precious horse in an accident, that damaged his leg, and double fractured it, and he has never healed, and has to use a walking stick to walk. James views himself as not good enough for Phoebe due to his injury. But there is more to James past than a lame leg, he has a father, a sister and a niece, and he hasn’t seen them in many years. James was a hero you just ache to give a hug to. He is quite tortured at times, and when you learn everything about his past, you begin to understand why he is the way he is portrayed in the story. I really admired his character, because he is protective, but he also is understanding and empathetic to Phoebe’s situation. He lets her breathe, and explore the world despite her blindness.
Now Phoebe is what makes this story entertaining and lively and full of zest. I can’t even begin to express how much I adored her, and I have ever since the book “Duke of Midnight” which is her brother Maximus’ story, but that is where we first meet Phoebe and I loved her from that moment and I was so excited to get her story here. Phoebe deals with blindness, but most of her light she can see some things if they are in the light or bright enough. She keeps a garden with only white flowers…so that she can see them. (which just about broke my heart), you see her love for her family, her passion to live life to its fullest, and even though we see her struggle with her blindness, you see her courage and strength of will too. I love how she battles her fears and is determined to battle her brother if necessary to gain some sense of normalcy and freedom. She is quite endearing and admirable.
Dearest Rogue, is a story to enchant and delight. And it’s not just about the romance here, we see also a story of facing your fears and battling inner demons. There is also a mystery at work here in the plot, and with the attempt kidnapping, a sense of danger. The danger isn’t super heavy, like some of her previous books we have seen, it is more that it adds a bit more depth and perception to the story. And it also introduces us to a side character…that just may get her own story soon. The majority of this story we see how characters grow due to circumstances and face challenges. The romance that blossoms between James and Phoebe is slow to begin…its more of a comfortable friendship and bond at the beginning, but when they are alone and together more, you see a change in their relationship, and I found myself captivated by this story, the plot developments, and the way that we see the characters come together when its the pivotal moment in the story. I loved the balance and the even pace, and how the story just seemed to flow like water for this reader. If you are a fan of Hoyt, and love this series, you will have quite a fun time with this story.
I love both the front cover and the step back!! I love the spring theme to the cover, with the sky blue color of her dress, and the white roses and the pose of the pair…very warm and sensual.
Dearest Rogue is a fantastic installment to the Maiden Lane Series. It’s a story of determination, of battling your inner demons and gaining strength from your challenges, and embracing the fullness of what life offers. Zesty and Passionate!!
Sean Taiden, the drummer for Reckless Beat, is in a dark place, the woman he loves is marrying his best friend. And to make it worse, on their engagement party, he is to give a speech, which breaks him even more. Sean has always come second to his best friend, and tries to attempt to drink his sorrows away, and never thought the only woman to keep him from thinking of Sydney…a gorgeous pixie with red hair and a smile to warm his chilly heart. Melody, was a professional dancer, she loved it, she had fame and glory, a gorgeous boyfriend, and her family supportive and loving, she had the world at her fingertips until an accident changed her forever, and she gave up her family, lost the man she loved, and now has to be content to run a dancing studio. She is on a job for Reckless Beat, to choreograph a couple dance where Sean is one of the leads. But their first meeting, he is drunk as ever, never calls her by her own name, and tempts her with a reckless passion….because she would hate to lose the man that makes her heart beat again when he looks at how damaged she is, will Melody have the courage to have faith in their love and trust Sean with every part of herself…
Sean, is the drummer and the heart of Reckless Beat, but in Sean’s mind he will always be in the background. He loves music, loves the band, and has stood by them ever since high school. He loves the beat and soul of their music, but the life they lead, is starting to take its toll on Sean, especially with just about every member in the band happily married and in love, and to lose the one woman he knows can never be his. Sean is a hero with flaws and vulnerabilities which makes the story even better. You can connect with him on a human level, he makes mistakes, has a broken heart and soul, he is beaten and worn down, but he is real and vital, and you sense so much more from Sean. He has this strength he doesn’t know of a the beginning, but you see him become more after meeting his “red pixie”.
Melody has a passion for dancing, she is talented, and was famous, and thought everything couldn’t get better. She was the center of the spotlight, and she was proud of what she had accomplished and she was living her dreams. But in a motorcycle accident, she was scarred, her whole thigh, and had to have surgery and it still pains her. Melody life changed in that moment, and she knew that she had to give up everything, her family, friends and her dancing, and it tore out her soul to do it. The man she loved rejected her because of her injury, and now she refuses to let anyone know or see her injury. Melody just about broke my heart. She had this carefree and witty attitude but she was also handicapped by her past and her injury. She has certain fears and insecurities, and has this self pity that just about consumed her at times, but you also see this inner strength, a woman who has gone through hell, and pain and grief, but lives in fear of the future and of herself. You see her move past all that and become willing to face those fears to be with the man she loves.
Sultry Groove is a story that moved me so much I needed some tissues. This was a very emotional one for me, probably the most emotional one I have read from this author. The characters are very heartbreaking, and I found myself spellbound by every aspect of Sultry Groove. But there is also a steamy and lighter side to it too. But the majority of the story we see the true inner parts of human nature, and how our lives can change in one moment. The way this story is written, is very melancholy at times, but it gets to the heart of us, and you feel connected to the characters in a very moving way that you don’t expect to find. What was the most impact was seeing these two damaged souls, come together and find a passionate yet tender love. They are both strong people, but both have suffered in different ways, and both need to heal. We see this happen slowly but surely, you see the growth and the change, and as the story unravels, we see them grow closer, and face certain demons too. It’s a story that you can connect with on an emotional level, and I felt a kinship to these two. They just might be my favorite couple of the series. The way these two fight for each other, and from beginning to end I was overwhelmed, and I loved every moment of seeing these two face their pasts and fears and come together in a glorious ending. I just never wanted this story to end, it was tragic and beautiful, and heart wrenching at times…one of the most satisfying reads I have read in a long time….this is a must read for ANY romance lover, so take my advice…BUY your copy NOW!!
This is just as sensual and gorgeous as all the other covers in the series…but i love the pink background, with the drum set at the bottom and seeing the coupe pose here…Magnifique.
Sultry Groove is a love story that is packed with steamy action, endearing characters, emotionally charged enough to bring tears to your eye, and a tale of facing your fears so you can embrace true love…a tender love story to reach your heart!!
Landon Donovan, is a captain in the special forces, he has gone on multiple dangerous missions and covert trips, but in the middle of his mission, he is pulled, and sent to Washington, and forced to leave his team…men he considers family. But he is told that he will be part of a two man team, and his job will be to watch out for his partner, a partner that has certain talents that goes above anything Landon has ever seen. When Landon meets his partner, Ivy, he wonders how he could take her of all people on dangerous missions, she doesn’t look like she could hurt a fly. But when they spar for the first time, he realizes how dangerous she really is, she has moves he has never seen, but Landon isn’t special ops for nothing, and holds his own, and soon sparks fly just as the danger to them does, and soon they are embroiled in a battle they may not survive…
Landon, is a tough military officer, he has dedicated his life to doing the right thing, and protecting his men. He is capable, loyal, and strong in a fight. From hand to hand combat to weapons…he loves it all. He has always wanted to serve in the special ops…he loves his guns and the explosives, and enjoys a good fight. Landon is a leader, confident and proud of what he has accomplished. But there is one aspect in his life he has never succeeded at…relationships. Being in a covert unit keeps him from developing anything strong, but then he meets Ivy, and despite the fact their relationship is forbidden…he can’t resist or let her go. I loved Landon as the hero…he is one sexy male, and he impressed me from the beginning. I loved the way he handles himself…and deals with dangerous situations.
Ivy, is a feline shifter, and works in a military unit, but her luck isn’t very high. Her last two partners were duds, and she wants a partner that will respect her and let her do what she is best at. Ivy, has kept the truth about what she does from her family, she is one of those rare humans that got that lucky active gene that has brought her out inner cat. Her abilities are those of the instincts of a feline, she can’t shift completely, but she definitely hisses and growls, and her claws come out when she needs them to. I love the way that Ivy is portrayed in the story, Ivy was a admirable heroine. I loved how she handles pressure, and takes everything in stride, she has this clear perspective on certain situations that is very enlightening.
Her Perfect Mate is a story to die for…it has everything I look for in a paranormal romance and a bit more. This is much more than just a paranormal themed story…it has many romantic suspense elements in it too…which just makes it even better. I recently discovered this author this year, and I just adored her writing style. Its engaging and heartwarming, and keeps you thrilled and excited all the meanwhile your reading. In Her Perfect Mate we see a story that brings together two people, these two individuals, are fighters, talented and smart, capable and confident and have a instant spark. They are forbidden to ever have a relationship, but from the first moment they kiss, their priorities change, and we Ivy and Landon form a bond, that is powerful and the more time they spend together the stronger the bond becomes. They fight good together, and they are well matched as a team, we see how they both have vulnerabilities, but their strengths balance each other out. I can hardly wait to read the second book…oh good ole Clayne….excited to see what happens in his book and in future books!!
What a bold cover…I love the stance of the two here, and the hero…mmm he certainly is yummy to look at. I love the gold background and gives off that edgy sense that is portrayed in the story.
Her Perfect Mate is a thrilling tale of a military romance, a dangerous enemy, an explosive passion, and a story that is exciting and gripping!! UTTERLY MESMERIZING!!

Amber has no idea who this stranger is, gorgeous and quite a strong attraction, but she doesn’t know what his deal is, and is forced to kick him out at closing time. As she leaves for home, she gets kidnapped by two men that want to force her and her grandmother to sell their land and will do anything to make sure she cooperates. Through a turn of events she is being rescued.taken by her mysterious stranger, who drags her into a world of vampires, witches and demons and much more, her head is spinning, and when he tells her that she is the “destroyer of demons” she thinks he belongs in an asylum for the mentally insane. He must be crazy, because that could never be her. But Amber is about to face some truths about herself, that her grandmother kept from her, and dragged into a world of danger and passion she isn’t sure she is ready for but will do anything to protect those she loves…
Our hero, Kane, is the logical and whiz of the Kayrs brothers. He has about a hundred degrees, and his favorite pastime is spending it in his lab and working on formulas to aid his people. But lately he has been on the hunt for his youngest, carefree brother Jace. A brother who is the most jovial of the bunch, has been held in captivity by the demons for four long years, and every time they find a clue to his location…they end up at a dead-end, but he knows the “destroyer of demons” is his last hope to finding his brother, and he will sacrifice anything for him. But he isn’t ready for the feelings that Amber evokes in him, he never thought himself capable of love, until he mates Amber and his world tilts on its axis and changes forever. What I loved about Kane is his logical brain…he is one smart geek here, loves his experiments and his lab, which he guards with his life. He is the least emotional of the brothers, and I enjoyed seeing him go a bit down under with emotions upon meeting Amber. Quite one of the highest highlights of the story was seeing Kane try to work everything out in a practical scientific way…but when it comes to love there is nothing practical about it.
Our heroine was quite fun and so far off kilter from what I was expecting…I have never met a heroine like her before. And I have read quite a bit, but she was such a unique character that added a bit more freshness to the book and the series as well. Amber is obsessed with saving the “earth”, she is pro green, save the environment, eat tofu and veggies…and hates meat, and refuses to be friends with anyone that has real leather or fur rugs in their homes. Despite all that (which I am all for the environment…but I do love my protein so I am not sure how well we would get along in real life) she was quite a hoot. Some of her actions are quite hilarious and crazy and I just loved her even more for her pranks especially (Spoiler: the scene where his lab gets a bit worked over by Amber…and boy does he get mad and what lovely payback too.
Provoked is the fifth installment, and I was very impressed with this story. Of course I always know I will have a jolly good time with Rebecca Zanetti being the author. But this is such a wonderful paranormal series, and she creates a world of not just vampires, but witches and demons and her world building is quite astounding at times, as I have progressed in the series, you start to see certain pieces fall into place. We also see what Jace is going through with the demons, and oh my heart aches for this playful brother. I really loved seeing his strength and determination to survive but the demons are definitely putting him through hell, and it was difficult at times to read those scenes instead of skimming, but since his book is next, I knew I should read them,,,,but not easy be forewarned. But what was most fun was the romance that builds between Amber and Kane. Now Amber is all about love and flowers…she won’t mate Kane without his heart. Now Kane wants a mating and views it in a practical way…like a arranged marriage, where both parties get something in return. He refuses to let love in, but sometimes you don’t have a choice. I love the way we see that change in Kane, Another aspect that makes Provoked even better…is the action and adventure…and the search for Jace. It is the edge of your seat thrilling, and the pace is quite engaging. A must read for paranormal lovers….who love a good mix of danger and love.
Not my favorite cover of the series…but oh boy look at those delicious abs, and I do adore the background setting, with the dark hues of orange and black….adds a hint of danger and supsense…makes me want to go on a walk through those woods with a sexy vampire of my own.
Provoked is another fantastic installment that this author has created for us. A tale that has an edge of passion and danger, a story of fighting for those you love and never giving up on them…no matter how bleak the circumstances seem. A fast paced, thrilling romance….A PAGE TURNER TO EXCITE!!
Dallas Cole hates football, her father raised her and she always came second to his coaching. But when she dates a football player in high school, and got her heart-broken, she knew that she could never be with anything that was connected to the sport. She is determined to focus on her studies and her dancing. Football is her past, and dancing is her future. When her roommate drags her to a party, she finds herself in a bad position, facing her ex, and she meets Carson McClain. Carson, loves football, and will do anything to succeed. He needs the scholarship so he can stay in college, and he needs to focus all of his attention on his classes and football…he can’t afford any distractions…and Dallas is one big distraction. But he can’t resist her, and on one evening where they share the most sensual kiss of his life, he definitely knows he is about to be tested, because not only is she smart and sexy, there is one problem….she is the Head Coach Cole’s daughter, and if they are found out it could mean he can’t play football anymore.
Carson McClain, needs to succeed at Rusk University…this is his only chance to make something of himself. All he knows if farming and football, he doesn’t believe he can do anything else. Carson is driven to become more than he is. Carson is willing to do whatever it takes to make it on the team, no matter how many hours he has to train and lift weights, or run…he will do anything. Carson is a hero to love, he has such drive and passion, to be good at something. He doesn’t have much self-esteem at first, but as his confidence builds, he starts to believe he has talent…and that he can do something more than farming. I love how determined he is…I mean boy is he determined to do what needs to be done.
Dallas was raised by her father, a father whose sole attention was on football rather than raising his daughter. She has always felt like she was second to everything else in his life. Her mother abandoned her when she was little, and her father refuses to let her even leave the state to go to a New York dancing school, but keeps her here in Texas, at a university he approves of, and is coaching at. Dallas knows he is just being over protective, but she wants to dance professionally, and in order to do that she needs to leave Texas and go to a program that will be a benefit to her. Dallas is more reserved and focused. What I enjoyed about Dallas is when she wants to she can relax and have a good time…with the right people. I enjoyed seeing her stand up to her father through the story, and fight for what she wants in her life.
This is first book in a fabulous New Adult series that just has me hooked. I have been wanting to try this author out for quite a while, and so I finally got the first book, and already bought the other two books in the series after reading this one….I loved it that much. What I enjoyed about this one…its not your typical New Adult romance…there is some conflict and drama, but its the type that you can easily relate to. I felt a kinship to Dallas, she is smart and talented, but not the most outgoing person in the world, she is more reserved and doesn’t mind keeping to herself once in a while…I totally related with her on that level. The hero just won my heart from the beginning, you see how much he is struggling to be something more, and he has compassion and a drive to admire. He doesn’t let anyone get him down and is so stubborn and I loved seeing his truer qualities shine through in this story. We definitely see a caterpillar blossom into a butterfly (star football player), he has what it takes to succeed and it was so fun to see him do it. The romance is sweet and romantic, and they do deal with some conflict, but they also come together when it matters most, and fight for each other…everything you need in a solid romance!!
I like it quite a bit…its a bit different, but many New Adult covers now are…I love the pose, its like they are so well fit together, they just relax into each other. It hints at the friendship they build throughout the book.
All Line Up is a friendship to lover romance….a story to know and love, a truly emotional and tender story. TRULY UNFORGETTABLE!!
This was a novella, so I will just do a short review on this one.
Adam is the first book in a new series by Jennifer Ashley, and after having reading this, I am beyond impressed with this authors abilitiy to transfer between genres. Its very awe inspiring when you see such talent from a favorite author. Most of the time I can’t stand it when authors transition between genres, because it usually means that some of those books won’t be as good as what they normally write…but this fine lady is pure talent when it comes to writing. From what I can gather so far, this series is not full length novels (sad) but maybe that will change. But the first two books are novella length…so we will see what happens. Normally I can’t stand novella’s because I always tend to get the impression that there is something missing, or the ending is too short, but with this story I didn’t feel that way at all…it felt pretty well balanced. Adam is a story of a man that is a stunt man (and oh boy you don’t see this too often but I do love seeing a character that does stunts for a living). He has been in a accident, and lost his best friend. He has suffered a leg injury and burns on his face. His family have a ranch where they train horses for stunts and other things…the bond between the family is quite entertaining, they are close, but banter and tease each other merciessly. They love and protect and fight for one another. Then we have the heroine, Bailey. Bailey and Adam were once a thing in high school, it was short and sweet. But they never lost the connection. Now that Adam has returned, Bailey is aiding Adam in recovering and the sparks begin to fly between them. Both Bailey and Adam have emotinal wounds, and need healing…and what I enjoyed most about this story was how they helped each other without even realizing it. This is a heart wrenching story about healing, redemption and learning to love when it matters most. I loved the raw emotion that is played out in this story, along with the western feel to the book, and the close families ties…and it all brings together a fabulous story to captivate your heart.
Penelope Weston, doesn’t care for Benedict too well, she doesn’t trust him, and still suffers hard feelings from the complicated situation that involved her sister. Penelope is back in London, for another season, and feeling more alone than ever. With her sister and her friend both happily married like doves, she doesn’t see the glamour in the balls or the soirees or the dances. One special evening, she has one friend left, a widow, a woman who is gentle and loving, but haunted. When she goes missing, Penelope goes in search of her, and finds herself in a dangerous situation, a situation, that she can’t save herself from, despite her efforts, and when Benedict strolls in and does save her, she knows that her life is about to change, even if she doesn’t want to admit it. Benedict has suffered under his fathers cruel hand for far too long, he needs to marry a woman with plenty of wealth, to escape his fathers decrees and wishes, and to find freedom for once in his life, and he knows he should settle for a woman who is calm and practical, not adventurous or wild and passionate…but when Penelope is put in a bad situation, and scandal erupts due to some cruel whims of a man who wants revenge, Benedict knows that he must marry her, because despite his best intentions he wants Penelope more than anyone else…and he means to keep her.
Benedict ever since he can remember has been abused by his father, who set high standards for every one in the family. Benedict is the only son, his two sisters his father could care less about. But Benedict is his heir, and has high expectations for him, especially for the woman he should marry. Benedict wants to be free from his father, more than anything, he needs to find his own place. Benedict knows that he made mistakes, but he was also protecting those he care about. Benedict was a hero I came to really admire. In the previous books, I wasn’t sure about his character, but we a more personal side to him in this story. We see what kind of home he grew up in, and the type of abuse he had to suffer both physical and emotional, and we the later effects it has. What was most fun about Benedict was seeing him change, slowly, but he changed from a man wanting to stand up to his father….to actually doing it. He takes action when it matters most, and I admire his drive and his honor.
Penelope is missing her sister….she and Abigail have always been really close. But now that Abigail is married and away, Penelope is feeling lonely, and even though she still has a couple more friends in London, she is bored with the pomp and circumstance. Penelope is quite entertaining. She wants adventure, love and passion. She doesn’t want a normal Ton like life. She wants more…she wants what her friends Abigail and Joan have. She adores the scandalous manuscript of short stories “50 Ways To Sin”. What was most fun about Penelope is her taking action before thinking about it first. She is very impulsive and not too smart about it all the time…but she does it out of caring and love…and I did admire that aspect of her character. She is bold, daring and not afraid to stand up to anyone, especially those she doesn’t approve of. She is considered “wild” for a reason, but she has a way about her that speak “Free Spirit”. And Even though I thought that at times she could use a bit more discretion at times, most of the time I found her wonderfully entertaining and freeing.
Love In The Time Of Scandal is the third book…and what a story. I could barely put this one down. I had so much fun with this story. From beginning to end I had such a jolly good time with everything about it…the plot, characters, conflicts and the setting. Caroline Linden is one of those authors I love reading when it comes to Regency romance. Of late I have become a bit bored with the genre, since its done so much but Linden makes her stories come alive for me. She brings sensuality and adventure to her stories…and this story was no different. It picks off from where the last book left off. It had been a while since I had read book 2….so I had to go back over my thoughts on that one…so I could remember the circumstances that makes Penelope despise Benedict. I would recommend at least reading book two before reading this one…you can read this story as a stand a lone but you will be a bit confused on why there is a bit of tension between Benedict and Penelope. What was the most fun about this story is the connection between these two. They both REALLY like each other, they are too proud and stubborn to admit it at first. Benedict is more quick to admitting it than Penelope….boy does she need some help. She doesn’t like to put her feet in when she doesn’t want to admit something…especially her feelings for a man she is supposed to hate but can’t. I loved the way these two interact with each other, the quirky bantering, the sensual embraces….sexy and hot enough to make me want to find my own man. And the conflicts…the biggest one is Benedict and his father. Wow his father is one piece of work…he certainly needs a lesson in humility. And there is another villain in the story too…but I have a feeling we won’t see the end of him and his drama until the next book….which should be fun Olivia and Penelope’s brother.
Can I say gorgeous cover!!!! I mean it just might be my favorite one of the series. I love the pose…with the cream and red colors, and don’t ya love almost neck kisses….gives me those delicious spine shivers. And that hair on that fine male specimen…I know I know his body is pretty gorgeous…but hair like that you don’t see every day…just makes me want to run my fingers through it.
Love In The Time Of Scandal is a wonderful addition to this Scandalous series that will set your heart racing, the pages flipping, and the blood pounding in your ears. A story that has a hint of danger, a heart wrenching scandal, some steamy action, and a even more powerful love story that sparkles and shines!! A DELECTABLE GEM!!
Ary is a natural born healer, and has dedicated her time to helping her tribe. Ary is a member of a shifter clan in the jungles. When she finds herself kidnapped by a enemy, Saber, she knows that she needs to find a way to escape. He wants her for reasons he won’t reveal, and she knows its only a matter of time before her situation will become worse. She also finds that her own father has been working with Saber for years, and has betrayed her to him. Nick Delgado is second in command, and when he learns that Ary his unclaimed mate, has been kidnapped from one of their most brutal enemies…he will do anything to find her, he just hopes to find her in time. Nick and Ary were kept apart years previous, and now they are brought together by a enemy, a enemy that is out to destroy the lives of both humans and shifters alike, and he will stop at nothing to perfect his drug…a drug that is harmful to many.
Nick was born a powerful shifter, and he is smart and cunning, and has had to be. When he was merely nineteen years old, he found Ary, his mate, but his parents and her parents kept them apart, and he has never forgiven his parents for that. He was yougn and foolish when he left her, but knew he would come back for her. Nick’s parents are dead now via a car accident, and he takes care of his family that he has left. Nick is a natural leader, and stands by his friends and those that protect their kind at all costs. He is driven to protect no matter what. What I adored about Nick is his devil may care attitude. He doesn’t apologize and doesn’t treat others with nothing but respect, he is pure alpha male though and has such has certain “tendacies” to possess, he comes across as controlling at times, but with the dangers surrounding them, its more about protecting those he loves. He is one sexy male…and whew I could keep reading him.
Ary is a strong healer, passionate and fiery. She stands on her own, and fights her own battles and is tired of living under her fathers dictates and commands. She craves for freedom and to make her own decisions. The day she is kidnapped…it changes her life, because that one event brings her closer to her fated mate, the one male that left and abandoned her when she needed him the most. Now she is stronger than ever, and stubborn as a mule, but she also realizes the danger of Saber and what he is capable of. What I really admired about Ary is standing up to the men, most especially Nick. She doesn’t let him run over her, no door mat this heroine, she is fierce in her desire to live her own life, but I also liked how she knew which battles to fight and which ones to back down from. I wasn’t sure at the beginning how much I would like her, but as the story developed I grew to love her even more…and boy was she a riot of fun at times.
Seductions Shift is a story that I wouldn’t recommend as a stand alone. From what I can tell, this series is connected, and even though you could read it out of order, you might get a bit lost especially at the beginning if you haven’t read the first book. At the end of the first book, Ary gets kidnapped. The beginning of Seduction’s Shift is the rescue and trying to destroy Saber. Saber is one sick creature, oh man, did I want him to die in this one. I mean he has a temper, he was taken as a boy by a man more evil than him, and corrupted, and now there is nothing redeemable about it any longer. We see two sides of the plot in this story. It is written in third person (Thank goodness), but we also have a few times where it switches to Saber and his “plans”. The focus of the story is Nick and Ary reconnecting and trying to work out mistrust and past hurts and betrayals, and all the while trying to bring Saber down. There is a bit of a powerful mystery aspect in play here, and we have some truths revealed, and a hint of the next couple in the next book. Oh I can just see a explosion of tempers going to explode soon. What I want to focus on is the love story. They definitely have no problems in the “sexual activities” in their relationship….it is fiery HOT!! But we also see a centered focus on them rebuilding their relationship, learning to love and trust again. I loved the tension that builds between them and the interactions…especially in the beginning, is quite hilarious, because really…they need lessons in communicating effectively. But they eventually learn…just takes quite a bit of time to accomplish. But what fun I had with this pair.
I really like this cover, with the red and gold colors, the imprint of a leopard, and the back of one sexy hunky male….I could keep him hehe.
Seduction’s Shift is a blazing hot paranormal romance, that sizzles and burns, it is a tale of reconnecting, a dangerous enemy to defeat, and a passion that builds the bridges to love….A SEXY SHIFTER ROMANCE!!
Gisele has had to resort to extreme measures to stay safe and hidden away from a demon from her past. Its a matter of survival, of life and death. She was brought into a marriage where she was abused and needed to escape, and she faked her own death and took priceless jewels to stay safe and be able to support her cause. Once she began a new life, with her two partners, she knew that this was her fate, to help those other women that needed her help to escape abusive situations. But when one of her partners ends up marrying and leaving, she needs someone to help her, someone in a poor situation himself, and need a new change, she then spies Jamie. Jamie is alone and on his own, and knows that he has no one. But when he finds himself in an inn alone with a beautiful women, who has an offer he can’t refuse, he decides to join her. The mission she has planned takes him on a journey of growth and facing his past in ways he didn’t expect, and to find a woman who fights for what is right…no matter the cost and he will do anything to stand by her side and fight alongside her, no matter the danger or risk.
Jamie Montcrief, is the son of a Duke, but even though he is the firstborn, he is a bastard and illegitimate, and so he got a commission and fought in the war, alongside his brother, only to come back alone, grieved and blaming himself for all kinds of torments. Jamie has dedicated his life in doing the right thing, no matter the cost to himself, and he proves that even if not many see his worth. Jamie is the type of hero that keeps surprising you. Whenever I thought I had him figured out, then we learn something new about him, and I gained even more respect for him. Jamie because a war hero through hard work and perseverance, he fought hard and he still does. We see his determination, and strength of will, and his loyalty to doing what is the right now and not what other want him to do.
Gisele Whitby is a heroine I fell in love with from the beginning. When I first read the blurb, I wasn’t sure about her, but what a lady she turned out to be. I love how she was a fighter through everything. When we learn about the type of abuse which was way moire than a few slaps here and there, it was pretty intense, and my respect for her grew, to deal with it, face it, fake her own death and take her husbands fortune with her, and him thinking she is dead all this time. And she keeps continue to use trickery to save those unfortunate women that need a champion. She is smart and passionate and stubborn, and her character kept winning me over. I love the way she faces her fears and not let her past control her actions, she becomes a stronger person for the cards that she has been dealt in her life.
I’ve Got My Duke To Keep Me Warm is the first book in the series, and what a book!! This is also my first book from this author, and I was impressed to say the least. I fell in love with this story, and lately I have been a bit bored with regency’s lately, but this one revitalized my interest again, and in ways I didn’t see coming. I loved the way it starts, and how it ends and everything in between. This was a winner for me, and it was quite unique in certain aspects. My favorite was the secret identity trope. Now even though she has faked her own death but is technically still married, and she and Jamie have a bond forming between them, and that didn’t both me at all…because quite frankly her husband is one mean and evil man who needs to be destroyed. And some of the side characters were just great, especially the Dowager Duchess of Worth…I can see how she will be a center figure in this series, and anyone that can bring a chicken to a ball and get away with it…well she has my vote!! As the story unravels, and we see Jamie and Gisele, become closer, we also see the makings of the plot increase, and tensions rise and we get to see some mystery and dangerous moments that keep you captivated. We also see hints of the characters that take a play in the next book, and see of bit of chemistry there, so I am very on edge to get that book next. What is wonderful about this book, is how it keeps you hooked and interested all the way through, and seeing the story line build and build, This is a story that is so different from your typical regency romance…its so much more…it has substance, humor, romance, edge of your seat action and a story that never ends!!
Isn’t this such a pretty winter cover…I love her dress with the cape flowing around her.
I’ve Got My Duke To Keep Me Warm is a warm and sensual read, that grabs you from the beginning, it’s a tale of love, danger, and overcoming your greatest fear to embrace the most consuming love….EXHILIARATING!!
Jodi knows that crashing a wedding is just what she needs, its been over a year since she was left at the altar, and she still struggles with the pain of that moment. So she takes her therapists advice, she crashes a wedding, but then she meets Jake, a sexy man who saves her from being found out as a “wedding crasher” and they are connected, and she can’t seem to say no to him, and after sharing a dance and a sensual night in his hotel room, she knows that this beautiful night will always be in her memory but she realizes that she can never have anything “normal” with him and for the first time in her life she wonders if her life would have been different if she had taken his offer for more than a one night stand. While getting ready for her sister’s wedding, working at her bedroom and breakfast she owns and manages, she runs into Jake again, and soon Jake and Jodi are entering into a sexual relationship, but a relationship that turns into something stronger and more binding…a bond that blows them both over with passion and love and trust…
Jake Coronnado is the star hitter for the Dallas Gunslinger’s, and he has been asked to be the best man, which surprises him, but he accepts and gladly. But coming back to Stardust, is also a way for him to face his demons. While away on a game, he lost his wife when she was gunned down in a store, and its been three years and he still hasn’t come to full terms with his wife’s death. Her death almost destroyed him, and he doesn’t know if he is ready for something more, but Jodi is like a breath of sunshine to him, a healing balm, a way for him to find peace and find something more with her, he doesn’t know where this relationship will take him, but he knows he can’t stop craving her. Jake is a hoot of a character, he is not your typical sports hero, despite his athletic talents, he isn’t what he appears to be, he is still hurting, and is quite tormented. But what I also loved seeing what how playful and carefree his character is.
Jodi Carlyle, has unresolved issues and not just from her ex fiancee…but she was adopted, and her life before was bleak and lonely and she had no one who loved her before her adopted family came into her life. She would do anything for her siblings and her parents. She has tried to move on from the past and build a new life for herself, she likes being in charge and in control, and has a hard time trusting others. She still suffers from being dumped at the altar for a stripper, but she knows that she needs adventure and to let go…but isn’t sure if she can. Control is her saving grace and is all that she knows to function. What I loved about Jodi was how she knows that she has a past, struggles, and is trying to face them. She makes mistakes…plenty, but she also knows herself and is true to that. She doesn’t hide from it, and I loved seeing her spunkiness and seeing her come out of her shell that she has built around herself. She was quite lively and entertaining. Even though there were moments I wanted to shake her…she also is the type of character that become real to the reader.
Rules of the Game is the second book in this latest series, and unlike her other books…this has a different take…its a sports romance, but with a small town feel to it. What I love about Lori Wilde is being able to create a story that I just fall right into. She is an auto author for me now, every story I have read from her has been fun and entertaining and sexy…and this holds true for Rules of the Game. What is great about this story was the emotional development we see in the characters. Both of the main characters are struggling with a past trauma. We also see a form of “magic”–kinda. This is the theme for the series, about sisters who find a box, and each holds a special item, an item that what you wish for you get…and only your soul mate can connect with that item. For Jodi the item is perfume, and no one can smell the scent except for one man…Jake and her wish…to have a sexual adventure…well every time Jake gets a whiff of her perfume he wants to take her clothes off. Quite entertaining really…seeing this arrogant ball player being humbled a bit at times. He does have to work for Jodi and boy does she make him work for it. I love how sassy she is, and the way she has to have her own way…but she gets humbled too. Another great aspect to the story is seeing characters from the first book…since the setting is around their “wedding” but it’s quite fun to see other members of the team…and I sure hope their stories are next. Especially cocky Talbot.
You know I like the cover…with her green dress and the backdrop…very romantic and fun.
Rules of the Game is a story of redemption, healing, learning to trust in love, and fated soul mates. It’s a warm and sweet romance, with loveable characters, Lori Wilde accomplishes a home run with this charming tale that is guaranteed to make you cheer….sensational in every way!! A MUST READ FOR ROMANCE LOVERS!!
Cat Benoit was brought into Rafe’s home, a leopard shifter, a dangerous man, a man who would do anything to keep her and would destroy anyone that got in his way. Cat knew that she had to be smarter than Rafe is she wanted to be able to escape his clutches. She devised a plan, and executed it perfectly, but now she is on the run, training herself to face him once again, battling nightmares and hoping that he will never find her. She finds herself in Texas, making coffee in a poetry cafe, the last place he would ever think to look for her. While attending martial arts dojo she meets Ridley Cromer, a trainer, and despite her knowledge that she can never have him, she can’t help but admire him…he has an elegance to his movements, a way he fights and protects. But Ridley has his own secrets….secrets that could draw Rafe right to her and threaten her sanity and life…
Ridley, is a leopard shifter, an orphan, and had to learn to deal with being on his own. Ridley, is honorable and loyal, and works for the government, and has dedicated his life to bringing down crime lords of all kinds. But there is one crime lord he will do anything to bring down, Rafe. He is dangerous and a leopard shifter…which makes him even more dangerous. Ridley is a predator, like many of his kind, but he acts with integrity, and you see that immediately, he is a bit of a control freak, but due to how he has had to live his life, it makes sense. I enjoyed him as the hero, he is commanding, a full alpha male, but he also has a soft side not many see but when it comes out…you just ache to have him.
Cat has lived in fear her whole life. Her adopted mother gave her to Rafe when she was young, and all she has known is living under his thumb and his control. Cat knows Rafe more than anyone…she understands that his life was rough, but that he is mentally unstable, a psychopath. Cat is smart and intelligent, she notices the little things and puts it together, she is the only person alive to escape Rafe by will and intelligence. She loves to cook (if she were real…we would be best friends), but I loved how she stands up to Ridley and Rafe. She doesn’t back down even if she is afraid. She has a very logical thought process at times, but because of her growing up with Rafe, she has had to fight her emotions and demons. She has only known fear at Rafe’s hand. She was quite a strong heroine to me, you see her grow in this story, you see how in the beginning she is fearful of everything, but then because of Ridley, training her and showing her the strengths and talents that she has, that she has the power to not let fear control her any longer.
Cat’s Lair is the seventh installment of this wonderful series. I flew right through this story…which isn’t a surprise because Christine Feehan is writing it. I can’t get enough of the way she can pull the reader into a story and not let go until the end. Cat’s Lair is quite the story and HOT!! I mean you might want to watch out or you might burn. This is one of Feehan’s most hottest series. More than her other series. But the heat in this book is very similar to Burning Wild (if you have read that one). The other books are tame compared to these. And at times I would just skim over those parts…because it got too frequent for the kind of mood I was in. But we do see a solid plot though…so no worries. There is quite a dangerous aspect to the story as well. ( I included the trailer below…so you can feel the dangerous aspect of it), and what suspense there is. I mean when it comes down to it….it will get your heart pounding and edge of the seat action that will thrill you to your toes. One of the most intense and action filled books I have read by this author so far. We do see connection to some other books as well. We see Emma and Jake and his team…which is always fun when you see them interacting with the main characters. The only thing I would change is less sex scenes…and a bit more focus on the relationship…we see it, but not as much as I would have liked.
I really like the shadows on this cover…adds a bit more of a dangerous element to it…which the beautiful tat work…I have never seen anything like that.
Cat’s Laird sizzles and burns, with both sensuality and danger…thrills on every page…heart stopping and will threaten to tear you off your seat!! MESMERIZING!!
